(A few seconds ago) South Florida is known for great beaches, warm weather, and beautiful people.
But when it comes to sports, their fans have a bad rap. Local teams are used
to playing in near half-empty stadiums and arenas if they aren't winning, and
even the defending NBA champion Miami Heat have gotten used to starting games
with late-arriving fans still not in their seats at tip-off.

(6/8/2013) MIAMI -- A notorious Opa-Locka Police sergeant dubbed "Florida's Dirtiest Cop"
has been arrested for kidnapping a man who wanted to file a police brutality
complaint against him.
German Bosque, 49, turned himself in to Florida Department of Law Enforcement
officials Friday afternoon and was being held without bond at Miami-Dade's
main jail, according to an FDLE release.
Investigators say Bosque punched the victim in August 2011 while on duty,
responding to a domestic call. When the man wanted to file a police brutality
complaint at the Opa-Locka Police station, Bosque "forcefully escorted him
from the lobby, handcuffed him and placed him into a holding area."

Miami this week as he steps up his interest in owning a new Major League
Soccer (MLS) team.
Beckham, who played for L.A. Galaxy in the MLS, has an option to create a new
franchise in the North American league.
While the exact location is still to be decided, he will be in the Florida
city to explore possibilities, according to former Miami mayor Manny Diaz.

Marcelo Claure, tried to start a team but the project was called off due to
"adverse market conditions".
A supporters group, calling itself MLS Miami Bid, told Reuters that Claure
would be one of those meeting Beckham and that the pair planed to watch Miami
Heat's NBA playoff game against the Indiana Pacers on Thursday.
Julio Caballero, the organiser of MLS Miami Bid, said they would greet Beckham
at the Heat's American Airlines Arena.
Caballero said his ...
